1MT ~ carbon sequestered by a forest the size of one football field
The McCloud River Improved Forest Management Project involves 9,200 acres in two forest tracts near the McCloud River. It is located in Northern California, near Mount Shasta.
The McCloud River sustainable forest management project is the largest working conservation easement located west of the Rocky Mountains. Although timber harvesting will continue carefully, this project also ensures that the tracts will be forested and productive in perpetuity—never subdivided or developed, and that the forest will be restored in its natural state, preserving the wildlife habitat and the river itself.
This project generates ROI (return on investment) to landowners through conservation-based management of commercial timberlands while increasing the total carbon storage and timber stocking over time. With this purchase, you will support the McCloud River Improved Forest Management Project and compensate for your carbon footprint by offsetting 2,200 pounds (1 MT) of CO2e.
This project is verified by the Climate Action Reserve.
